My statue of Napoleon purchased in Sheffield, England in 1977 |
I have now started preparing my follow up book to The Real Napoleon - The Untold Story. It will be entitled England's Wars Against Napoleon and will be a direct riposte to those 'historians' who blame just about every single conflict between the European powers in the early C19th on Napoleon personally. To many British writers he appears to be little more than a James Bond villain direct from central casting who woke up every morning with the sole purpose of conquering the whole world before breakfast. This position - still maintained by many current writers from the British stable who also extol the virtues of their own empire upon which the sun supposedly never set - is ludicrous and I shall aim to prove it. Many English historians in particular are about as balanced as a one-legged stool and regurgitate the same misinformation and repackaged falsehoods ad nauseum. And they use the same discredited sources repeatedly, many of whom wrote their memoirs after Napoleon's death and were produced with the express aim of flattering Louis XVIII and his odious brother d'Artois aka 'Monsieur' who became Charles X.
