Today on AMAZON KINDLE the first part of my novel 1812 is published. There are over 57,000 words in this initial section which takes Napoleon and the Grand Army from the famous meeting at Dresden in May of that year, to the early part of the invasion in June. Right from the very start the Army was in trouble, in fact, the march to Moscow was as disastrous as the infamous retreat.
The main characters are Andre Legrand, a soldier in the Imperial Guard; Colonel Count Armand Lafayette an ADC to Berthier and then Napoleon and Angela Pasqualini, a cantiniere to the 30th Regiment of the Line. Also important are Alexandre Des Mazis, Andre's best friend and another Guardsman; Bernard a pioneer in the 1st Regiment of the Guard; and Petiot, Henri, Jean-Baptiste, Joseph, Etienne and Michel - men of the 30th. Napoleon, Berthier, Davout and Murat play themselves!
